The Transitional House Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the oversight and management of the White Buffalo Recovery Transitional House. This facility is an ASAM Level 3.1 Community Transitional Home operated in Arapahoe.

Major Duties:


Works daily with residents to provide support, encouragement, and guidance
Assists in coordination of crisis and emergency situations with the clinical staff.
Work in conjunction with other department staff to administer scheduled program curriculum and other activities utilized for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse.
Process new clients, i.e., issuance of clothing, assists with food resources, orientation to the rules of facilities and assists clients with daily activities, events and informational literature.
Assist the manager with daily operations of the facility including answering phones, processing time, maintaining adequate food supplies, and chore assignments.
Provide supervision and oversight of substance abuse technicians in absence of the manager, including all employee communication, training, mandatory meetings and coverage.


Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations including CARF, Indian Health Service standards and certifying agency standards;
Advise staff in the management of records and information to ensure compliance with all confidentiality laws including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2;
Completes paperwork requirements to maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records, including assessments, patient placement, treatment plans, progress notes and other relevant information, enter the necessary information into the electronic health record (EHR) system, ACCUCARE;


Reinforcing clinical programming and staff adherence to ethical practices;
Maintaining and modeling a close collaborative working relationships with community resources to ensure quality care is being provided;
Model and support health and wellness activities and healthy coping skills for clients;
Maintain professional standard of conduct, and model recovery type behavior. Adhere to NAADAC Code of Ethics, as well as the Northern Arapaho Tribe and White Buffalo Recovery Center Policies and procedures;


Work to resolve conflicts at the team level and effectively use supervision and management for further conflict resolution;
Attend all mandatory training and staff meetings;
Provide coverage assistance to co-workers with group therapy and psycho-education groups as necessary to assure clients access to services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge in the field of addictions treatment in general
Knowledge of confidentiality rules and regulations including HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2
Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Addiction Studies or Human Services field.
Prefer experience is a residential setting working with adults with substance abuse issues.
Must be self-motivated and organized.
Must have 2 years of continuous sobriety from drugs and/or alcohol.
Must be able to work closely in a team staff relationship in program development.
Must have a verifiable driver’s license.
Ability to initiate and follow through with assignments using policies and procedures

Supervisory Controls:

The Transitional House Manager defines the overall goals and priorities and is available for guidance with unusual problems.
The Transitional House Manager relies on the Assistant Manager for the knowledge, skills and abilities to independently perform his/her assignments.
The Transitional House Manager periodically reviews the work for the results, technical accuracy and conformity to facility policy and regulatory requirements.
The Transitional House Manager places considerable reliance upon the Assistant Manager’s ability to work with co-workers and staff to assure quality services.


Guidelines include numerous facility policies, Federal and State law as applicable, and other requirements as necessary. Guidelines are general and not cover all areas encountered in work performed. Interpretation of vague or unclear situations in which no precedent has been established is referred to the supervisor.


The Assistant Manager makes decisions regarding client services, activities, resources and general house needs. It is important that the Assistant Manager maintains an open line of communication with the Transitional House Manager.

Scope and Effect:

Work involves direct contact with the client and accessing client information for job duties.

Personal Contact/Purpose of Contacts:

Contacts are with counselors, certified addiction practitioner assistants, peer specialists and substance abuse technicians within the immediate organization of the work unit.

Physical Demands:

The work is primarily sedentary. There may be some walking or carrying light items such as manuals or files. Good eye/hand coordination is required.

Work Environment:

The work environment involves risk and discomforts of a client care setting including exposure to communicable diseases, working with office machines and computers. The demand of computer terminals and keyboards for long periods of time may cause eye, shoulder and wrist strain. Work is performed in a smoke-free office setting. There is adequate light, heat, and ventilation in the work area.

Other Significant Factors:

It is of high importance to provide good customer service to clients, co-workers, and other departmental staff. Maintain professionalism in the work environment and the highest of ethical standards.
