Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:45 generally
The primary duties of the optometric technician include: preliminary testing and entering results in EMR, check visual acuity, perform auto-refractions, perform visual fields and OCT, instruct patients on contact lens insertion/removal, read spectacle lens prescriptions, and education of patient on disease processes and proper insertion of medicated drops.
Must also be able to triage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and assist patients by coordinating with other departments.
Other duties include:
Assisting with the JVN program by coordinating care, and capturing images.
Assisting the optical department with ordering, fitting and adjusting spectacles.
The incumbent must maintain strict confidentiality and high ethical standards in performing the position. The incumbent needs to be respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, be flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
